Supporting Communities in the Amazon with Flavia Amadeu

THE INTERDEPENDENCE OF PEOPLE & NATURE WITHIN THE FASHION INDUSTRY

Flavia Amadeu holds a PhD with the Centre for Sustainable Fashion at the London College of Fashion. She is a Brazilian designer and a businesswoman, founder of AMADEU - Amazonia Materials & Design United and of FLAVIA AMADEU Design, which is her signature fashion brand. She is an experienced designer and researcher with more than seventeen years dedicated to projects of socio-environmental impact, especially with wild rubber from the Amazon rainforest, where she works with local producers and artisans.

In this talk, she will speak about the interdependence of people and nature, demonstrating how sustainable production is an important mean to maintain the Amazon rainforest alive. She will bring a range of materials that can be applied to fashion while supporting communities and contributing to preserving the natural resources.
